TERREMOTO!
Right as we were finishing up our lunch today (which was around 1:29 PM), the house started to shake. After a few seconds of obliviousness and after our host mom jumped out of her seat, I realized that it was an earthquake. We had to go downstairs and wait for it to pass, but we were only down there a minute or so. The quake was centered 70 miles southwest of Guatemala City, which I think is about 40 miles or so from Antigua. People in El Salvador supposedly felt it too. But even though it was a 6.8 we really didn't feel much. According to MSNBC.com, the only damage was near the Pacific Coast and it was due to some mudslides that resulted from the quake! So other than that I think everything is ok! Just thought I'd let you know that I'm safe in case some of you were worrying! :)

B, I am glad that you left a post. I was getting ready to call the Olviedo house to see if you & Teryn felt it there. D and I were walking and didn't even notice it at first. No damage at the children's home. I hope that you are having a good time in Antigua!
What a way for me (the Mom) to discover Guatemala is susceptible to earthquakes! ...and later in the day someone tells me there is a volcano in sight from the Childrens' Home! Geeze.....
Thank goodness you're ok! I was at walmart with ellie and tucker and allison called ellie and said there was an earthquake in guatemala and the 1st thing that popped in my mind was "Is B ok?" I called alesa and she said she would look it up and then called me back and said dad said it was 70 miles south of guatemala city, I was like "Thank goodness!"
I am glad to hear that you were not hurt. That was probably pretty scary. I know that if I felt an earthquake, no matter how small/big, I would either run around screaming or feel sick. I miss you!!!
